That’s a big question. There are a lot more options right now for individuals (self-hosted Ghost/WP, Mastodon, etc). For communities it’s a little shakier. There are some Fediverse options, but nothing solid (yet). Someone might say Discord, where My Writing Community lives, but that’s very centralized. Maybe the answer is returning to self run forums and IRC channels.
