A few years ago a pastor friend explained that there’s a major reformation of the church every few hundred years. The Council or Nicaea, the Crusades (not a good one), the invention of the printing press which lead to Martin Luther, etc. Our conversation would often turn to what the next/current reformation looks like.
I think people questioning their faith and deconstructing false faith is true reformation. Breaking down the dogma, legalism, nationalism, and hypocrisy the modern church is built upon and instead focusing on Jesus’ teaching. There’s a reason those teaching resonate more with people than the light shows and self help.
Bring on the reformation. Bring on daily deconstruction.
Great piece.
